Kroger Helps The Foodbank Bring Hope To The Table

The Foodbank Receives $37,000

Dayton, July 21, 2008 – The Kroger Co.’s Cincinnati/Dayton Division held a check presentation on Wednesday, July 21 and awarded The Foodbank a generous check for $37,000. Geoff Covert, President of Kroger’s Cincinnati/Dayton Division presented the funds which are the result of Kroger’s “Bringing Hope to the Table” campaign, Cincinnati Television Together promotion, and the Division Recycling program to several local food banks.

“Bringing Hope to the Table” is a customer-driven partnership between Kroger and many of its manufacturers. Every time customers purchased participating items in Kroger stores from June 6 to June 19, support was shown in the community effort to bringing an end to hunger. This annual campaign, which is held in every Kroger store in the United States, has provided millions of meals for the hungry across the country. Locally, the donations will be used to feed the hungry in Montgomery, Greene, and Preble counties.

“We’re excited by this donation from Kroger,” stated Burma Thomas, CEO of The Foodbank. “It’s wonderful to have community partners who understand our cause and go out of their way to support The Foodbank’s mission. As the need among our area continues to rise, donations such as this become more and more important. We cannot thank Kroger enough.”
