Special Dietary Needs Pantry

The Special Dietary Needs Pantry (SDNP) is designed to serve the emergency needs of adults who have been diagnosed with diabetes, renal disease, high blood pressure or cardiac disease and must follow a restricted diet. Clients meet with registered dieticians to review and discuss diet restrictions and menu planning. Anyone needing the services of the SDNP needs a referral and a prescription from a medical professional before scheduling an appointment with the dietician.

The Special Dietary Needs Pantry is open for client appointments every Tuesday afternoon, and Wednesdays and Thursdays between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. (The pantry does not accept walk-ins.)

To make an appointment, call 937-461-9786 between 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Voice mail messages will be returned.

Good-to-Go Backpack Program

There are many children throughout The Foodbank's service area that receive free or reduced lunches at school. But over the weekend, these same children are at a high risk of going hungry. The Good-to-Go Backpack program addresses the needs of nearly 1,000 of these children throughout the area.

Good-to-Go backpacks are sent home with specifically identified children every Friday throughout the school year. Each backpack is filled with food children can take home and eat over the weekend. The food is kid-friendly, easy-open and easily prepared. No one but the child knows what is in his or her backpack, thus maintaining the dignity of each participant.

Participating Good-to-Go Backpack sites include:

Dayton Christian Center

Living Word Metro Church

Van Cleve at McGuffy Elementary School
