The Foodbank to Receive Semi Truck Load of FoodDayton, December 18, 2007 - Just as soon as food comes in the back door of The Foodbank's warehouse, it goes out the front door where pantries and kitchens help fill the stomachs of local families, children and seniors. As demand for food has increased dramatically, the donations of food from the community has dropped just as significantly. Currently The Foodbank has received nearly 58,000 pounds less food this year as compared to last year. On Friday, December 21, 2007 at 10 a.m., Kroger will deliver a semi trailer of food to The Foodbank, located at 427 Washington St. in Dayton. "We are delighted," states Burma Rai, CEO of The Foodbank. "Kroger, in conjunction with WTDN's Food for Friends has always been there for the communities we serve, and this donation of food will certainly go a long way toward helping feed the hungry." This is the 25th year for Food for Friends and the fourth annual food donation from the Kroger Company. |
